Chashme Baddoor is a 1998 Hindi-language Indian romantic drama movie directed by Gulzar and starring Aamir Khan, Kajol, and Rishi Kapoor. The music was composed by Gurukant Desai. It tells the love story of two identical twins separated at birth who go on to live different lives—one as a rich industrialist, the other as an impoverished laborer. Chashme Baddoor which means "the one and only" (rose) has been remade in many languages including English and Telugu with Rajinikanth's name as well as remade itself in Nepali with title Chishma Shakma Badai (The One And Only). The movie is based on the short story by Jhumpa Lahiri, "The Interpreter of Maladies." Vijay (Aamir Khan) is a happy-go-lucky guy who works in an Indian steel mill. He has two friends, Dalip Singh (Rishi Kapoor) and Salim (Kiran Kumar), who are also comrades at work. They get together for chats about women. Vijay likes Anju (Kajol), while Dalip likes Jyoti (Juhi Chawla). One of Vijay's friends comes up with a scheme to win the heart of Anju by using money to bribe her parents. After Anju's parents reluctantly agree to the proposal, they buy a engagement gift for her. Anju's father has the gift delivered to the steel mill, where Vijay works. Vijay receives a note asking him to meet at a warehouse on a certain day. Vijay goes there and finds a man waiting for him, but he is told that he is not going to see that person after all. As Vijay leaves disappointed, he sees that the bag contained a pair of earrings for Anju instead of the engagement gift as promised by her parents. He gives them to her as a gift on some sentimental reason and tells her that she broke his heart from across the room where they work so closely together. Vijay meets Jyoti on his way home. They both work at the same factory, but Jyoti is sent back to their village for her marriage while Vijay is sent by his employer to his home town for some business. When they realize that the town is the same, they meet and fall in love with each other. At first glance, they are convinced that they are siblings due to their identical looks, but after further investigation they find out that their parents are actually brother and sister. This shocks them even more when they find out that Vijay's father is a rich businessman who has never seen them since birth while Jyoti's father has been her family's breadwinner all these years. Vijay and Jyoti's parents feel that they should be kept apart because it is dangerous for siblings to be together. They finally agree to the marriage only if Vijay and Jyoti separate. The lovers then part ways with sad looks after knowing their fate and they both establish perfect relationships with their families and friends and stay happy till the end.The music of Chashme Baddoor was composed by Gurukant Desai, who also rendered "Dil-E-Dera" as a song in the film. cfa1e77820
